Last week, Microsoft announced enhancements one of their Dynamics ERP systems, MS Dynamics NAV 2009. These recent improvements were made in support of Microsoft’s promise to enable the Dynamics Business, which includes creating flexible business applications that can easily adapt to a business’s evolution. MS Dynamics NAV serves as a rapid development platform for customers in manufacturing, waste management, construction, fashion retail and others, and these recent improvements also aim to make the already highly sensitive system more intuitive.

New visualization capabilities were added to the RoleTailored feature in MS Dynamics NAV, which provides users with an efficient experience, and will now be even more effective with visual custom controls and personalizations. With the use of MS technologies like Silverlight, users can create these new modifications, from improving data entry and quick navigation. Data entry enhancement comes in the form of Excel-like navigation, new ability to calculate within fields, and single-cell data copying. The Role Center also features keyboard shortcuts, and there are also filtering improvements: advanced search features now allow customers to search for pages, report views, and other items with the Search box, just as they would do in Internet Explorer or Outlook.

Most ERP platforms are being updated to include Enterprise 2.0 capabilities, so it is no surprise that the fourth and final update to MS Dynamics NAV is a forum feature called Connect. Connect allows users from the Role Center with Internet access to the latest product information. Updates, newsgroups, training, and other tools targeted toward their role are now just a click away.
