The University of Scranton in Scranton, Pennsylvania, has recently announced the addition of a specialization in enterprise resource planning (ERP) to its online MBA program. This specialization is offered through the SAP University Alliances Program, developed and run by leading ERP vendor SAP.

For students that already completed their education but wish to be certified and trained in ERP software, the University of Scranton has also added an Online Certificate in Enterprise Resource Planning. Both the certificate and the MBA-encompassed specialization teach students to be familiar with ERP software and allow them to use, configure, and apply the software comfortably.

These available programs make graduates more marketable as employees to companies who use ERP to organize their systems. The move toward ERP software is becoming more and more common among companies in a wide array of fields, so employees with a strong knowledge of ERP software are becoming increasingly sought after.

While the online ERP training is formatted to fit SAP software, the knowledge and experience learned throughout the course can be applied to virtually any software brand and is not limited solely to SAP. In fact, many of the students working toward a certificate in the online program are current employees looking to further their knowledge of the ERP software that have been recently implemented throughout their companies; by gaining ERP expertise, employees are in a better position to excel and succeed in the company.

After graduating from the program, students have the opportunity to participate in a week-long program that provides thorough and in-depth training of the ERP system and delves deeper into the course material. After this “SAP Boot Camp”, graduates receive the official SAP Associate certification and can call themselves experts in the field of enterprise resource planning.

Graduates are eager to market themselves positively to prospective employers, and in order to do so it is important that they understand in depth the workings of the software being implemented. Although the University of Scranton is the first university to offer a program devoted entirely to enterprise resource planning, the trending increase in usage of the ERP software by an increasing amount of companies will most likely yield more and more programs of this sort.

Let's hope that more companies will get involved in this kind of program, it would bring them long term benefits. I would expect to see more advancement already, things are moving real fast in real world, schools need to keep up. I recently learned how to build a byod security plan I am so thrilled about it because I know it will help me in my new business.

This is amazing news, an university with real life prospects for it's students based on this software program. I suppose one needs to know a little bit more than handling file extensions to stand a chance to apply for these classes. I'd appreciate more details on that, thank you!
